This was the first official week of training for the Wineglass Half Marathon in Corning, NY.
This week my training calls for intervals of running for 1 minute and walking for 1 minutes and repeat several times. The plan called for just 30 minutes for each run but I really wanted to hit 2 miles every time.
4/16 – 2 miles 16:36 AP – I usually go out while listening to business podcasts. Today I made the change to listen to music since that what I listen to when doing a race. This run felt bad. I was rested and ready to go but having two cups of coffee right before walking out the door might have been a no-go for me. I’ll keep this in mind and make adjustments for Wednesday run.
4/17 – Hip Opener Yoga. This felt so good.
4/18 – 2 miles – 17:17 AP – Not my best effort. I tested this run after waiting an hour and a half after my “I-can’t-wait-to-drink” two cups of coffee. Also, I had issues getting the app to work this morning. I think that set a bad slash wimpy effort. The best part was that I ran a faster second mile. Take that old body.
4/21 – 2 miles – 16:17 AP – When I got out the door, for sure I though it was going to be a sucky run. I had went to bed late, had a couple extra glasses of wine, and well I did not felt rested that morning. With bottle of water on hand I went… thank goodness there was a breeze and barely any sun at 7:30 am. It turned out to be a great run even though in my mind this was a really slow effort. Best part was that I got a must have pedicure…Bliss!1
