Can you believe we are already a month into 2013! Time does not wait for anybody and hence one of the reasons of why I felt that the wait needed to stop and a working on a new healthy lifestyle was necessary.

After getting some blood work results back the thought that I was a ticking bomb began to sink in. Have you ever been in that state where you know you need to lose a few pounds, you know what needs to be done but the motivation is just not there? That was me just a month ago.

The sad part was that years ago I was a fitness buff and a true believer in all things Turbo Jam. When I saw Beachbody was ready to start selling Les Mills Combat dvds (aff link), I jumped at the opportunity. A little skeptical, put this program on the credit card thinking, if I suck at it or I don’t like it I can always send it back.

Well, as you see in the picture, the results speak for themselves. I’m literally in love with the program! Of course, there are days that I dread exercising but once I’m done with the workout of the day I’m a happy camper. To lose 4.5 inches at the waist in a month, it’s a dream come true and a lot of sweat and tears. Not to mention the 7.7 pounds gone! Now, I know I have a long way to go and be at a healthy body fat percentage.

Another change I committed to was to healthy eating. This month, only once had a “bad” meal and it was because I was craving Taco Bell tacos. I’m eating 1,300 calories in four meals. One of them I make sure is a green smoothie to get my veggies in. So far so good! Yes, some days all I want are tacos however when you do the cost-benefit analysis and the amount of calories the splurge would take, it’s not worth it.

I’m using the Ultimate Warrior Hybrid calendar, that’s about 50-60 minutes a day, six days a week. It was tough to schedule it the first week. I felt like a headless chicken and like I had no time for anything. Truth is, if I cannot even schedule one hour to myself, then I have more issues than I thought.

What I like the most of these DVDs is the fact that is the masterminds behind the gym class BodyCombat lead the workouts. Also, it’s not like other programs where the trainer is just running his/her mouth and barely do the exercise. They know when you need the motivation and a little pick-me-up-let’s-do-this. Plus, there are no fake boobs, ha! Kidding aside, it’s a sound program that includes a lot of martial arts moves. It makes me feel powerful. One of my favorite workouts is the Power Kata, I think it’s the best balance between punches and kicks.

They also include a modifier on every video. The only thing I dislike is that the modifier is not always on-screen. Sometimes, I find myself waiting to see the modifier again to keep going. That has no deter me from having results though. They also have different levels to increase intensity of the moves. Some rounds I go all out some I still change them.

I’ve done my fair share of Beachbody fitness programs. This one takes the top place in my mind. There’s room to grow with it and I can see myself doing a couple of rounds until I can get all the level 2 moves right. Can’t wait to see where I end up at the end of this program.
