Goofy Challenge Training Week 6/36

Happy Monday! Joining Tara (Running ‘n’ Reading) and the gang for the first time for the Weekend Update!

Last week marked my first 6 weeks of training! It feels like I got a good base training going on. Plus, I feel like my mind is settling on this plan instead of hem-hawing on which plan is best.

The runs were meh. My soul was content. Kinda contradictory but I feel like I’m getting a better understanding of what is going on with my body. Also, finally got to buy Superfeet insoles that will make (I hope) my right foot PF don’t bother me as much as it did this week.

Sunday 6/7 – 3.1 miles
Pace: 15:28 48:06

This was a great run. I shaved about 2 minutes from my 5K time. What I liked the most was that for the first time I ran an even pace for the whole time. This was huge! So sad that the week went downhill from here.

Wednesday 6/10 – 3 miles
Pace: 18:10 54:51

My legs simply didn’t cooperate with me. I thought this was a fluke and penciled it as just a bad run. Then Friday happened.

Friday 7/12 – 3.5 miles
Pace: 18:49 1:05:50

I tried to run at the beginning but I wasn’t feeling it. I feel like this was more of a mental barrier than being unable to run physically. I was checking out a new route, so, decided to walk it out.

It felt like my body was telling me that 4 runs a week are not happening for now. So after changing My Asics app to 4 runs, changed it back to 3 runs a week. This has messed up a little bit the training days but I’m sure at the end it all will work out.


I hear you body. Let’s make the three runs work, ok

    looks like you had a good week of training. I am in awe of anyone would would attempt a marathon let alone GOOFY. Good luck!!

    Yoly, thanks so much for linking up with the blog this week; welcome to a fun community! I hope you will join us again! I’m so impressed with your efforts and your goal to run Goofy next year; it’s going to be epic! This is a tough time of the year for training and I find that my body kind of goes through an adjustment period. What should have been a really easy run yesterday turned into an out-and-out struggle, due to the heat and humidity. I’m glad to hear that you are listening to your body and taking it easier on yourself; you’ll get there! Hope you have a great Monday and thanks again!

    Best of luck with your training for the Goofy Challenge! I’ve done it three times and it is such a fun event. You can’t beat running at Disney World. Good for you for listening to your body and changing up your training schedule.

    Greetings! Love finding new bloggers like you on Weekend Update 🙂 The Goofy Challenge (or many Dopey!) are at the very top of my bucket list! I ran the Disney Princess Half and 10K last year and have been trying to figure out how to get back ever since – Disney knows how to organize a good time, that’s for sure! That’s really cool that you can change your runs/week on your Asics app and it will adjust your schedule for you – super convenient 🙂
